POOL MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST

TASKS

VINYL Liner
  • Check for holes or tears

  • Make any needed repairs urgently

  • Main function of liner is to hold water

  • It can last a long time if maintained properly

  • Patch tears and holes promptly before they get larger.

  • Follow the instructions of the pools manufacturer

  • Keep the pool liner clean

  • Dirt and fine material can accumulate at the water line

  • Remove build up often by gently scrubbing the dirt with a soft cloth and vinyl cleaner

  • Use a mop or brush designed for your type of pool liner

 

Concrete or Gunite
  • Check for cracks as part of your regular maintenance

  • Call us for repairs urgently on PH 4369 0090 before you have major water loss

  • Check for cracks at the beginning and the end of the swimming season

  • Cracks often develop from ground shifts

 

Fibreglass
  • Hairline cracks in fibreglass are common and occur over time

  • Inspect for other damage

  • Fibreglass pools have a gel coating, so hairline cracks tend to not leak or affect the pool water quality

Motor and Pump
  • Call us to check the seals, it will save you money long term

  • We check to see if they are torn or damaged . They need to be replaced

  • The motor and the pump are the most important parts of the filtration system

  • Always turn off the power and unplug the unit before bringing it to us

  • Call us if you wish for us to pick it up for testing PH 4369 0090

  • Never turn on the pump without water or you will damage it.

  • Any damage incurred is not covered by warranty

 

Sand Filter Tank
  • Call us to check for depletion especially when winterizing your pool.

  • The sand filter is virtually maintenance free

  • If depletion is evident, then the sand will need to be replaced

  • The proper grade sand is required in the filter tank so call us for the best advice

Skimmer or Strainer Baskets
  • Clean daily

  • Look in the skimmer basket before placing your hand inside and removing the debris

  • Rats, Frogs, Spiders have ended up in the skimmer box and may be still alive to bight

 

Pool vacuum cleaner
  • Before using check the head and handle

  • Vacuum once or twice a week

  • The filtration system will collect most of the debris from the water

  • Some debris and dust will settle on the bottom that only the pool vacuum cleaner can remove.

  • Check the vacuum cleaner head is not damaged

  • Check the handle is not too loose

  • Damaged equipment can damage your pool

 

Automatic Cleaners
  • These help to keep debris out of the pool between major maintenance of the pool walls and bottom
Leaf Rake
  • Is effective in removing debris from the pool surface or on the bottom

  • Regular removal of debris will reduce contamination and cost in chemicals

Water
  • Check water clarity and pH regularly

  • Bring us a sample and we will test it for you and advise you of necessary chemicals to bring the pool into balance again

 

Filtration
  • The chemicals you add to your pools water will not work effectively without an efficient filtration system
Circulation
  • Good circulation is as important as good filtration

  • Use a timer to meet the required time for circulation

  • The timer will help circulate water at off peak power periods saving you money

PH level
  • The proper pH level is important for swimmer health and pool equipment

  • PH level between 7.4 and 7.6 is ideal

  • PH level should be checked each week – we can test it for you in store

Sanitization
  • Sanitizing pool is important in marinating pool water balance

  • Sanitizing stops growth of bacteria and algae

  • Oxidizing equipment containing chlorine is used in sanitizing the water

Safety
  • Rescue equipment needs to be near the pool and well maintained

  • Equipment should be appropriate, durable and easy to use

  • Check all equipment before the swimming season

  • Check it again before storing away for the winter

  • Check all equipment to ensure it is operational

  • Post emergency numbers by the pool

  • Post Resuscitation chart in an accessible position to read

  • Keep the bottom of the pool visible

Regular Maintenance
  • Establish and follow a schedule

  • Regular checking and correcting the water quality of your pool will save you money and keep your pool crystal clear, clean and safe to use.
